Sonia is a lawyer in the restructuring and recovery group at Brecher.
She has over 20 years’ experience advising on all aspects of corporate restructuring and recovery.
She has worked regularly for UK clearing banks on all aspects of customer workouts and security recoveries. She has also represented Private Equity funds, in relation to acquisition of debt and equity and restructuring investments.
Sonia’s practice includes advising Insolvency Practitioners in relation to business and asset sales and Company Voluntary Arrangements and on all contentious aspects of formal insolvencies, in particular asset tracing and recovery actions.
She acts for directors on matters relating to directors’ arrangements. Sonia continues to advise on all aspects of personal bankruptcy.
Sonia adopts a highly commercial approach to resolving problems and is a lateral thinker, with excellent tactical and negotiation skills.
Sonia has been described in Legal 500 as a “good negotiator” and “calm and determined”. Chambers & Partners quotes “Sources admire her broad expertise in the sector” and she has been recommended as a ‘Leading Individual’ by Legal 500.
Sonia’s experience includes:
- Habitat – advising the administrators on the sale of certain parts of the group and on all aspects of the administration.
- Allied Carpets – advising the administrators of the property holding and retail trading companies within the group in the disposal of the business and assets.
- Advising a Private Equity fund on the acquisition of a well-known UK food manufacturer and restructuring the business.
Sonia qualified as a solicitor in 1996 and joined Brecher in 2020.
