John specialises in international tax planning and advises on tax residence, domicile, the use of trusts and other entities in cross-border and international situations and the United Kingdom’s double tax treaties with other jurisdictions. He is familiar with the raft of anti-avoidance legislation that is now relevant to offshore trusts and other entities.

He also advises UK domestic clients, ranging from landed estates and family businesses to individuals on tax and estate planning.  His practice includes advice on succession planning, wills, the creation and governance of trusts, post-death planning and the administration of estates and issues in relation to capacity and the use of powers of attorney.

John enjoys advising on difficult and thorny matters, particularly where a number of factors such as tax, business  and family issues are relevant and need to be incorporated into a solution.

As well as advising executors and trustees, John is happy to act as an executor and trustee for clients.

John has been recognised by Spears 500 guide and individually ranked in this year’s Chambers Directory with the comment that he “combines a high level of technical expertise with an intelligent and creative approach to problem-solving”.
